Apache Tomcat 10.1.31 Cross-Site Scripting

medium Web App Scanning Plugin ID 114507

Language:

Synopsis

Apache Tomcat 10.1.31 Cross-Site Scripting

Description

The version of Apache Tomcat installed on the remote host is 9.0.96, 10.1.31 or 11.0.0. It is, therefore, affected by a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) due to a previous fix which caused pooled JSP tags not to be released after use which in turn could cause output of some tags not to escaped as expected. This unescaped output could lead to XSS.

Note that the scanner has not attempted to exploit these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Apache Tomcat version 10.1.33 or later.
