Cisco IOS Smart Install Client Feature Malformed Config / Boot Image File Upload Remote Code Execution

Synopsis

Cisco IOS contains a flaw in the Smart Install Client feature that is triggered when handling incoming requests instructing the SMI IBC server to download IOS configuration and boot image files. With a specially crafted request, a remote attacker can replace the start-up configuration file and booting IOS image.
