[R1] IBM Tivoli Management Framework Endpoint lcfd.exe opts Field Handling Remote Buffer Overflow

High

Synopsis

IBM Tivoli Management Framework Endpoint contains an overflow condition in the lcfd.exe program. The issue is triggered as user-supplied input is not properly validated when handling the 'opts' field. With a specially crafted request a remote authenticated attacker can cause a buffer overflow, resulting in a denial of service or potentially allowing the execution of arbitrary code.

Note that while this requires authentication, the lcfd.exe program contains default hardcoded credentials (tivoli:boss).

Solution

IBM has released a patch (APAR IZ90238) to address this vulnerability.
