Debian DLA-1005-1 : mercurial security update

high Nessus Plugin ID 101121

Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security update.

Description

In Mercurial before 4.1.3, 'hg serve --stdio' allows remote authenticated users to launch the Python debugger, and consequently execute arbitrary code, by using --debugger as a repository name.

For Debian 7 'Wheezy', these problems have been fixed in version 2.2.2-4+deb7u4.

We recommend that you upgrade your mercurial packages.

NOTE: Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the DLA security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.

Solution

Upgrade the affected mercurial, and mercurial-common packages.
