NewStart CGSL MAIN 6.02 : libgcrypt Vulnerability (NS-SA-2022-0088)

high Nessus Plugin ID 167481

Synopsis

The remote NewStart CGSL host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The remote NewStart CGSL host, running version MAIN 6.02, has libgcrypt packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability:

- Libgcrypt before 1.8.8 and 1.9.x before 1.9.3 mishandles ElGamal encryption because it lacks exponent blinding to address a side-channel attack against mpi_powm, and the window size is not chosen appropriately. This, for example, affects use of ElGamal in OpenPGP. (CVE-2021-33560)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the vulnerable CGSL libgcrypt packages. Note that updated packages may not be available yet. Please contact ZTE for more information.
