Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 10 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dla-3296 advisory.

- The HTML-StripScripts module through 1.06 for Perl allows _hss_attval_style ReDoS because of catastrophic backtracking for HTML content with certain style attributes. (CVE-2023-24038)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the libhtml-stripscripts-perl packages.

For Debian 10 buster, this problem has been fixed in version 1.06-1+deb10u1.
