Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 ESM / 18.04 ESM / 20.04 ESM host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-5215-1 advisory.

 Srikantha Prathi discovered that NLTK incorrectly handled specially crafted input. An attacker could use this vulnerability to cause a denial of service.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected python-nltk and / or python3-nltk packages.
