Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Google Chrome installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 120.0.6099.216. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 2024_01_stable-channel-update-for-desktop_9 advisory.

- Insufficient data validation in Extensions in Google Chrome prior to 120.0.6099.216 allowed an attacker in a privileged network position to install a malicious extension via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High) (CVE-2024-0333)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Google Chrome version 120.0.6099.216 or later.
