The remote CentOS host is missing a security update for mingw-binutils-generic.

Description

The remote CentOS Linux 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mingw- binutils-2.39-2.el9 build changelog.

- In GNU Binutils before 2.40, there is a heap-buffer-overflow in the error function bfd_getl32 when called from the strip_main function in strip-new via a crafted file. (CVE-2022-38533)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the CentOS 9 Stream mingw-binutils-generic package.
