SUSE SLED15 / SLES15 / openSUSE 15 Security Update : sudo (SUSE-SU-2024:0876-1)

high Nessus Plugin ID 192102

Language:

Synopsis

The remote SUSE host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote SUSE Linux SLED15 / SLED_SAP15 / SLES15 / SLES_SAP15 / openSUSE 15 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SUSE-SU-2024:0876-1 advisory.

- Sudo before 1.9.15 might allow row hammer attacks (for authentication bypass or privilege escalation) because application logic sometimes is based on not equaling an error value (instead of equaling a success value), and because the values do not resist flips of a single bit. (CVE-2023-42465)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected sudo, sudo-devel, sudo-plugin-python and / or sudo-test packages.
