Adobe InDesign 15.0.0 < 15.1.2 Multiple Arbitrary Code Execution (APSB20-52)

high Nessus Plugin ID 209478

Synopsis

The Adobe InDesign instance installed on the remote host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Adobe InDesign installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 15.1.2. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the APSB20-52 advisory.

- A memory corruption vulnerability exists in InDesign 15.1.1 (and earlier versions). Insecure handling of a malicious indd file could be abused to cause an out-of-bounds memory access, potentially resulting in code execution in the context of the current user. (CVE-2020-9727, CVE-2020-9728, CVE-2020-9729, CVE-2020-9730, CVE-2020-9731)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe InDesign version 15.1.2 or later.
