Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for glibc.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2012:1207 advisory.

- glibc: Integer overflows, leading to stack-based buffer overflows in strto* related routines (CVE-2012-3480)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL glibc package based on the guidance in RHSA-2012:1207.
