Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 14.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-2551-1 advisory.

David Jorm discovered that the Apache Standard Taglibs incorrectly handled external XML entities. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to

execute arbitrary code or perform other external XML entity attacks.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libjakarta-taglibs-standard-java and / or libjstl1.1-java packages.
