Nessus 5.2 provides customers with more intelligence by further automating analysis and reporting, and increases platform support and integration. Key product additions and enhancements include:
- Attachments in reports − Gathers information and stores them as attachments within scan result reports, providing easy access to supporting information for vulnerability investigation and documentation.
- Post-scan plugins capability − Enables a new class of plugins to generate tips based on analysis of scan results.
- Expanded OS support and integration − Adds platform support for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, provides IPv6 scan support on all platforms, and enhances Mac OS X integration to more easily manage the service.
- Improved usability − Improves UI responsiveness and simplifies activation to get users up and running faster.
“With this release, we continue to advance the definition of “active” scanning. The addition of attachment support and post-scan analysis allows us to expand the information that Nessus obtains and delivers advanced analysis to security analysts and auditors,” said Renaud Deraison, CRO and co-founder of Tenable Network Security. “Building on Nessus’ strong foundation, 5.2 provides key building blocks necessary to continue enriching the user experience and providing even better results.”
