GivingTuesday: See How Tenable Employees Are Giving Back in 2022
Looking for ideas on how to participate in GivingTuesday? We highlight seven nonprofit organizations around the world and share how Tenable employees are giving back. We hope these stories offer inspiration for your own charitable choices this holiday season and beyond.
At Tenable, our people strive to create a better tomorrow by giving back to their communities globally through the Tenable CARES internal giving and volunteerism program. The purpose is to make it easier for employees to give — and to give together. The way employees have embraced the program has been inspiring.
Our Tenable CARES program is designed to support the charitable organizations that are important to employees, and to support giving in all its forms. The program offers each employee a full day per year to be used for volunteer work and matches employee donations to their preferred organizations. In addition, the program invites employees around the world to nominate a cause that’s important to them for a chance to be selected as Tenable’s global cause of the year. In 2022, that cause was St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“Tenable CARES is really an employee-driven initiative based on their feedback and desire to support others across our global communities,” said Bridgett Paradise, Chief People and Culture Officer, Tenable. "This program reflects our people-first culture and speaks directly to the caliber of our employees and the support, respect and authenticity with which they approach what we do."
In celebration of GivingTuesday 2022, we highlight seven charitable endeavors Tenable employees are involved in this year and provide links where you can learn more about the organizations. These are just a few of the organizations Tenable employees are championing:
- Animal Rescue Trust
- Cancer Research UK
- Clean Coasts
- Maryland's Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology
- Special Olympics of Maryland
- St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
- The Outreach Program
Read on to learn more about how our employees are supporting these causes and how you can participate.
Nitasha S., Associate HR Business Partner: Animal Rescue Trust, Pune
Nitasha and her husband understand the power of using your voice to advocate for others. In this case, we’re talking about animals. Their commitment to supporting those who might need it most, but just can’t let others know, has helped more than 100 animals get the care they need.
“Being a voice for the voiceless in our community is a big responsibility. No matter the season, no matter the reason, my husband and I look after stray dogs in need. We regularly partner with the Animal Rescue Trust to help care for animals, whether it’s food, medical support or even love, in the times they need it most,” said Nitasha.
The Animal Rescue Trust, Pune helps provide free healthcare to street animals, aiding in the support of vaccinations, treatments, ambulance services, shelter placements and adoptions. “The organization is transparent, supportive and has a big heart. Even in the late hours they take in animals, not turning a single one away, and then ensure they have the best care possible,” said Nitasha.

Andre C., Senior Manager, Sales Development: Cancer Research UK
This is the third year in a row that Andre has arranged a charity event to raise money for Cancer Research UK by participating in the Shine Night Walk. This is an illuminated nighttime walk where people at all ability levels are able to get moving, while raising money for an important cancer cause. "I chose cancer research because it's a cause close to my heart,” said Andre.
”Sharing our stories and partnering with others to give back can leave a lasting impression. Six years ago I had cancer and thankfully have recovered. By supporting organizations that focus on cancer research, I have the opportunity to help those who are like me. And, by sharing my story with my team, I’ve strengthened my bond with those who may have a similar journey,“ said Andre.

Antoinette G., Senior Office Manager: Clean Coasts
Antoinette rallied other Tenable team members in Dublin, Ireland to take action. This group used their volunteer day off to support Clean Coasts, a program that helps protect and care for Ireland’s waterways, coastlines, seas, ocean and marine life. The team headed to their local waterway, the Royal Canal, and managed to pick up 28 kilograms (60 pounds) of trash from the waterway and surrounding areas.
“Little by little, when we each take action, we have the opportunity to impact something greater than ourselves. I love that Tenable CARES actively encourages us to come together to leave our communities and environments better than we found them,” said Antoinette.

Khensani C., Director, Sales Operations: University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology
Khensani was inspired to take part in the Emancipation 5K race in Laurel, MD, in early September to benefit the University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology-Midtown. She ran the race alongside members of the black@tenable Employee Resource Group, allies and their families.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to give back to organizations that have a personal connection to me. Diabetes is a disease that profoundly impacts the Black community, including my family. It feels really special to partner with my Tenable colleagues to support charities that provide assistance, research and care to people impacted by such diseases,” said Khensani.
The efforts of Khensani and her teammates were covered in a local paper, the Streetcar Suburb News, which had this to say about the event: “Tenable Inc., a cybersecurity firm, had the largest corporate representation, with more than 30 runners in matching black T-shirts on the field. Organized by Tenable employee Khensani […}, the team of runners and walkers were contagiously energetic and captured their share of ribbons in various divisions.”

Star B., Data Governance Manager: Special Olympics of Maryland
Star supported the Special Olympics of Maryland, which gives youth and adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in and train for Olympic-style sporting events.
“It builds lifelong friendships with the participants and their coaches. Everyone I asked to support me in the Over The Edge challenge heard the charity linked to the event was the Special Olympics and was elated to donate,” Star said. The Over The Edge challenge, sponsored by the Special Olympics of Maryland, featured rappellers who descended 12 stories off the highest building in Howard County, MD, — which is also the location of Tenable’s Maryland headquarters.
Star said she appreciates the multiple ways of giving that are supported by the Tenable CARES program. “I love that Tenable supports me, so that I can support others. Giving back and finding opportunities to make an impact on my community, like through the Special Olympics of Maryland Over The Edge challenge, is extremely important to me. The Tenable CARES program truly shows us that we are stronger together,” said Star.

Alex B., Senior Recruiter: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Alex has always favored charities that help children. So when Tenable announced that it had selected St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as its 2022 global cause of the year, he knew he'd want to pitch in somehow — and joined a walk/run event in his community. “When I went out to Druid Hill Park [in Baltimore, MD] on a crisp fall day to walk with the other volunteers, the experience of giving became more personal, and I felt connected to the cause and to the community,” said Alex.
Alex shared how the Tenable CARES program offerings make it easy for folks like him to have a pathway to giving that works best for them. “When I think about the challenges that humanity is facing, knowing that I have a pathway to help give back and a team that supports my efforts, even outside of the workplace, keeps me positive and energized. Our Tenable CARES program empowers me to support my community in the best way possible,” said Alex.

Elizabeth M., Security Engineer: The Outreach Program
Elizabeth, like many others from Tenable, was inspired to support those in need impacted by the crisis in Ukraine. In true Tenable CARES fashion, team members came together to support Elizabeth and her family in raising funds and packing meals.
“Tenable CARES is a really great way to pay it forward — from finding volunteer opportunities, sharing ways to help or matching financial contributions. Tenable has encouraged me in my passion for volunteering, while aiding in support for those in need around the world,” said Elizabeth. "And, many others at Tenable share this passion. They are just good at the core, and being around genuinely good people just makes you want to be better, too,” shared Elizabeth.
