Lab Environment – Courses with hands-on lab exercises require an HTML5 compliant browser. Tenable Vulnerability Management™ labs have no additional requirements.
Virtual – Our virtual classes utilize a Zoom webinar connection, which enables instructors to interact with students online.
Private – For courses at your location, a Tenable representative will contact you to establish the specific classroom and technical requirements needed.

Tenable cannot award Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits since these are granted only by the certification body. Most course offerings provide a Certificate of Attendance or a Certificate of Completion, and these are accepted as proof of participation in most cases.

FAQ
How long do I have access to an on-demand course after purchase?

Once you purchase an on-demand course, you will have access to the content for one year from the date of purchase. During this period, you can watch the course videos as many times as needed to fully absorb the material.
How does the 16 hours of lab time work?
-
The 16 hours of lab time starts counting as soon as you begin your lab exercises. You can pause and resume the lab sessions as needed while progressing through the course. To help you get the most out of your lab time, the timer will automatically pause after two hours of inactivity.
What if I run out of lab time? Can I purchase more?

On average, students need around 9 to 10 hours to complete the lab exercises. Currently, additional lab time is not available for purchase. To maximize your lab hours, be sure to stop the lab timer when you are not actively using it.
Can I earn CPE credit by taking your courses?
-
Tenable cannot award CPE credits toward industry certifications, as CPE credits are awarded by the certification body that grants the certification. Tenable provides a Certificate of Completion or a Certificate of Attendance after completing a course. In most cases, this certificate is accepted by the certification body and CPE credit is awarded.
Is the exam available in other languages?

Currently, the exam is only available in English.
If I pass the written exam, but fail the practical exam, am I certified?

You must pass both the written and practical exams to obtain certification or any digital credentials.
How are exams scored?

Each category is equally weighted and the sum of all categories equals 100%. You need a minimum score of 80% to pass each exam.
How do I prepare for the exam?

Here are some recommended ways to prepare for the exam: Attend the associated instructor-led training course, review handouts from the course and review documentation on docs.tenable.com.
What happens if I fail an exam?

If you fail to pass any Tenable certification exam, you may purchase another exam and try again. Please note there is a seven-day waiting period before you can schedule another attempt.
How are exams delivered?

Exams are virtual. We may offer in-person testing in the future.
Am I required to take a training course, or may I simply register and take the certification exam?

Although we recommend our course for certification exam preparation, we do not require instructor-led training to schedule and take an exam. However, you must pass the written exam before scheduling the practical exam.
Are testing sites available for proctored exams?
-
Exams are currently virtual. The proctoring service is available 24/7 worldwide. We may offer in-person testing in the future.
Can I purchase two exams simultaneously?

You can purchase multiple product exams at the same time. However, you must pass the written exam before scheduling the practical exam for all product certifications.
Will I receive a copy of the certificate in the mail?

No. We provide only digital certificates and digital badges at this time.
Can I earn CEU credit by obtaining a Tenable Product Certification?

Yes. Tenable is an approved training provider towards CompTIA's Security+ certification. Upon receiving one of the approved Tenable Product Certifications, individuals with an active CompTIA Security+ certification can apply for CEUs toward their certification maintenance. See https://www.certmetrics.com/comptia to apply and upload the required documentation to your CompTIA account. Credit is granted at CompTIA's discretion.
What are the prerequisites for each course?

The Introduction course is the recommended prerequisite for the Specialist course, and the Specialist course is a recommended prerequisite for the Expert course.
If I take the course, am I required to take the certification exam?

The certification exam is a separate purchase. You are not required to take the certification exam to attend a Specialist or Expert course.
How long must I wait to attend the course or certification exam after purchase?
-
You should receive scheduling instructions within minutes of order verification. You may follow the instructions immediately to schedule your course or exam. You must schedule instructor-led courses within 9 months and take the courses within 12 months of purchase. You must take exams within one year of purchase.
What are the rules for the exams?

General Rules
In general, the following applies to all exams
- You must be alone in the room at all times.
- Your computer must be connected to a power source.
- No phones or headphones are allowed in the testing room.
- No dual monitor use allowed.
- You may not leave your seat during the written exam. One break will be permitted during the practical exam, with a maximum break time of 5 minutes.
- No talking is allowed, except to the proctor.
- Your webcam, speakers, and microphone must remain on throughout the test.
- The proctor must be able to see you for the duration of the test.
- Drinks are allowed.
- Scrap paper (single sheet of blank paper and a writing utensil) is allowed.

I took your exam and I believe a particular item is not valid. Can I request evaluation of that question?

Tenable constantly reviews exam questions to ensure relevance, technical accuracy and absence of ambiguity. If you believe a particular item is not valid, you may request an evaluation of that item within 4 (four) calendar days of taking an exam.
An exam development staff member will review your challenge and submit a response within 10 (ten) business days of the submission. The response will include either a result of the evaluation or, in the event more time is needed for evaluation, an estimate of when you can expect a decision. Once a decision has been made, it will be regarded as final and no further evaluation will occur.
To protect exam integrity, Tenable will not provide information on whether your answer was correct, the rationale for the decision or how your performance on that item may have affected your final score.
